Daimler Trucks donates 20 FUSO Canter trucks for aid operations in Haiti’s earthquake region
|
Stuttgart – Daimler Trucks is supporting the people of Haiti, the Caribbean island that has been hard-hit by the recent earthquakes, by promptly sending them 20 FUSO Canter trucks worth over half a million euros. The trucks were handed over to the Haiti aid initiative of former US President Bill Clinton. Clinton had already presented this project last week at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Bob is perhaps one of the last of a dying breed of men. Men who can build and fix, just about anything. A trained engineer, he got into plastic injection moulding before ill-health pushed him into an early retirement.

Daimler Trucks Sells 500th Hybrid Truck from Mitsubishi Fuso in Japan
|
Stuttgart/Kawasaki – Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) has sold more than 500 units of the Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid truck model in Japan to date. Some 250 of the trucks were sold in 2008 alone, a 64-percent increase from the figure recorded for the prior year. This dynamic development is being fueled in particular by growing demand for environmentally friendly, fuel-efficient commercial vehicles.

Success Story Continues for Daimler Commercial Vehicles in 2008

Stuttgart – As expected, developments on the world’s commercial vehicle markets were quite varied last year. While the truck markets in Latin America developed positively in the first half of 2008, there was a downturn of the European market from the second half of the year, following years of strong growth. Meanwhile, the markets in the NAFTA region and Japan contracted once again.

The commercial vehicle division of Mercedes-Benz South Africa (MBSA) including Freightliner/Mitusbishi FUSO/Western Star ended 2008 on a high note with total sales of 9 167 units in the over 3.5 t GVM segments, giving a market share of 26.4%, an improvement of 3.2% over 2007.
